Hi folks.

Apparently you can't just wire an analog phone into a Norstar system and have it work; at least it doesn't work in my lab.

Is it possible to make this work through KSU configuration, or would I need some piece of hardware between the analog phone and the KSU?

Thanks!

Thanks for the info.

Is that also the case for bigger Nortel systems?

Welcome to the board feh! Please fill out your profile so we know a little more about you.

Larger Norstars and BCMs support ATAs as well. But, there are also multiport analog modules available on those systems.

Thanks Marty.

I'm a software engineer, working in the area of VOIP. We're starting to bridge some of our products over to the PBX world, which I know nothing about.

Could you point me at some info on these multiport analog modules? What I'd really like is something that takes up one port on the KSU and offers 4 analog ports, if such a thing exists.

Thanks.

The Norstar line has ATAs which are 1 digital port converted to 1 analog port. If you had a larger 0X32 with the proper software you could have a fiber connected 8 port Analog module.

Sorry...you're not going to find the device you're looking for. The ATAs are a single analog port, connected to a single digital port (like RBF said). The multiport modules, ASM on Norstar and ASM (or GASM) on BCM, use this same 1-to-1 ratio in terms of system resources used.
