I am doing a mics with 60 DID #'s (non PRI) 4.1 to 6.1mr upgrade and a NAM 4.0 to 4.1 upgrade this Saturday. I have read previous posts on this topic and I just want to make sure that I have my basis covered. Back up the 4.1 using nru 10. Install 6.1mr and upload backed up info. Back up 4.0 nam. Install 4.1 nam and upload backed up info. Is there anything that I am missing or should be aware of?

Do the NAM FIRST. Get it running on the 4.1 then upgrade the MICS. I did exactly what you are doing a couple of years ago and had nothing but headaches from the NAM until I learned upgrade voice mails first.
You should not lose your database in the NAM or MICS upgrade and an upload should not be necessary.

Thank you for the info Marv, I will do the NAM first. In regards to the MICS backup/upload, the 4.1 has a NVRAM 1, and I will be upgrading to a NVRAM 2. Will I not loose the database, if I don't back it up? Will the system ID in the MICS change?

You will lose the database by changing the RAM cartridge.
I'm not sure of the sys id.

Thanks again Marv. So I should back up the 4.1 and then upload to the 6.1mr. Does anybody out there know if the system ID will change?

I have had System IDs change when upgrading. But, I think they were all upgrades to 7.0...not sure though. You say its "non PRI", assuming you don't have a Digital Networking keycode loaded either, you really don't need to be too concerned about the System ID.

I'm not sure you can upload a 4.1 database to a 6.1 system. Line ID's and target line numbers are different.

I am 99% sure you can't upload the 4.1 to 6.1. I tried it a few months back and the upload failed and I ended up manually reprogramming it. I know if you upgrade from 4.1 to 6.1 and you reuse the NVRAM the procedure is power down, pull the anphenols replace the software power up and reconnect the anphenols.
Two girls later and I'm back.....lol...been gone a while but see same faces still here. Lol

100% sure here. You definately can NOT restore a 6.1 system with a 4.1 backup. You still want to pull a 4.1 backup though, so you can get back to where you started if the upgrade gets botched.
