I have had some weird power issues before and a unit that says it is also a power conditioner is not a bad idea either.

In addition to a UPS, I would recommend line protectors on incoming lines from the central office.

Does anyone know of a cheap source for some easy-to-install line protectors?

A telephone system maker told me that most of systems they get back that have suffered lightning damage have been damaged through the central office line rather than the wall power line.

If you have a network interface unit at your Demark, you might also concider grounding the NIU with your local telco's help. Older buildings might not be grounded properly (codes change)

Wel ALWAYS recomend that the customer has a UPS system, and we require it if there is a voice mail. It really solves many potential problems, especially with flash voice mail systems.

As for line protectors, we use ONEAC; they seem to work well for us and they are relativly easy to use. Every system we install has these, they are included with ALL new or MAC quotes involving CO lines.
