I have a customer with an older Norstar (release 1 T1). I would like to back up the system. What software do I use and how do I get a copy? Thank you in advance for your help.

If you connect a Fast Rad to that system you can download from it using the remote set utilities, the backup and restore tool.

I have the ICS remote tools 10.0 and can connect and talk to the system fine. It will allow me to do the phone emulation and programming. It will not allow me to do a backup, the screen tells me that I am connented to release 1 T1 software and the backup restore feature is not allowed.
I would imagine that I need an older version backup software. Any help would be appreciated.

NRU supports ICS versions 2.0 through current (7.0). Before NRU was released there was a DOS based product. But, only the really big operations had it. It was a bit cost prohibitive at $10,000.00 a copy (in 1986).

Your best bet is to upgrade the software.

You will a product called Norstar Manager version 3.1. LIke Marty says upgrade the MICS software to something that your NRU will support... it's cheaper.
