In a couple of weeks will be adding a PRI. Which I have never done (have done regular DID). Believe that I have most of it in hand, except for call forwarding off site to an answering service. How is this accomplished ?

Build a route and destination code for the answering service number. Then have the customer use line redirect to forward the number.

Remember to make sure you have a decent size UPS on this system. When the power is out, there is no call forwarding.

Thanks, I was not sure if line redirect worked with target lines. Thanks for the tip on UPS, I had even though of this. And this is a large medical clinic.

If possible I always get the PRI active a few days before the cut and have the LEC/CLEC send calls in and make calls out using temporary numbers they assign to test.

I will assume that you have a new or used but tested T-1 card and the pri codes that turn the 0x32 into PRI enables.

I will also presume you want only the BTN PRI to forward, not individual set DID's that would require control set programming, correct?

When I set up a new PRI I always remove the external code first, then set up a route for the PRI (001) then set up a destination code for outdialing- enter 9 then hit OK (immediately) and have it use the same route. Then set up line redirect on the receptionist phone, hit the preprogrammed forward key or hit feature 4, 9 and the number...

Just to add I would check my RLS of 6.1 because early releases of that software had known problems with PRI.

Thanks guys. Keep the tips coming. I will have a week to play with it. Drop on Friday, put card in etc on Saturday. Reprogram, I think it will mess up my trunk numbering as I will be putting it in slot one in the main cabinet. Cutover on next Friday. Clinic to have no patients on PM. Right only the BTN PRI to forward. Uh-oh. What release of 6.1 ? This was the first 6.1 I was given, one installed the week before was a 6,0.

You might want to talk them into a 7.0 upgrade, I would.

Also, for the sake of toll fraud, using a dial 9 is very risky proposition. My favorite trick is to put a dial tone simulator on an analog port with dial 9, then put the real dial tones on some other code.

The fraudsters can go nuts trying to go out on a fake dial tone while everyone else can dial 333 or 369, etc.
