Hello, I have a Inter-tel GMX-48 I want to program via my laptop-via the db9 comm port to the RS232 port on the KSU ...does anyone know where I can get a cable with the proper pin configuration.-not standard. Also anybody know the settings I need to set it up with ...protocol/ baud rate...etc..hyperterminal / procomm??? Thanks for your time. I left this post in "Intertel" section of course....no responses...thought I'd give this forum a shot. Thanks for your time.

the cable for all intertel programming is not your standard comm. cable. The pin config is different (thanks intertel), I made my own. Its not hard....
If ya have the manual its in there...

the baud rate is 300. Its best to use a silent 700 dumb terminal TI.
That is whats recommended, also Panasonic makes one. I never used a laptop only dumb terminals...
they work best at 300 baud cause the system is old and slow...hope this helps as I used to work for an intertel dealer and the GMX/GX was our bread and butter...

With the silent 700 dumb terminal TI...was the end connected to it a RS232? ... I assumed you used "hyperterminal"?

Silent 700 is a keyboard terminal with thermal paper printer, no monitor. They are setup to run 9600,4800,2400, or 300 baud; 8,n ,1. The connector on silent 700 is a DB25 (rs232).
Good Luck!!

Try terminal emulation vt100. It emulates a dumb terminal.
Good Luck!!

YYYYYIIPPPPPEEEEE!!!!!! I'M CONNECTED!!!! I tried a few combinations...and the one that finally worked was: VT-100-(tried this earlier..other settings were wrong) Xmodem/ 4800 buad-when I went to this it connected. Thanks for all your suggestions. Thanks for the VT-100 tip...like I mentioned I tried that earlier..but with wrong settings on other ...I had vaguely remembered something about the VT-100 simulating a dumb terminal. Thanks again. I'm stoked!

I learned the hardway on an old Tie system. Tie was VT100, 1200 baud, 8, n, 1. Glad you got in!

Not that this has taken away from my joy of getting in..but in the manual I just acquired it doesn't list any default password/s. "Sysdown"..this is for you..what are the default password/s? and of course...if it was changed...what can I do to reset it?
P.S.--Sysdown..your right with the 300 buad..but there is also KSU'S with buad settings of 1200 2400 or like mine-4800.-I think the settings might be changeable in the KSU..(dip switch/jumper?) Thanks again everyone.
