I am looking to buy a new phone system for my retail store. We have 4 lines and are probably going to add another line (800#). We need 8 stations, 2 voicemail boxes, station to station intercom, loudspeaker paging, conference, music on hold, call forwarding, privacy, auto attendant. We have regular phone service, but considering a T1 in the future....most all systems are T1 compatible nowadays aren't they? I am looking at the Avaya Partner 7.0 which seems to have everything I need. Can anyone suggest others that I should look at?
Thanks in advance to anyone that can provide feedback!

The DSX is a decent system as well as the DX80 (the new upcoming DX120 will support a T1)

Also our customers seem to be happy with Tadiran and ESI systems. I'm sure there are many more.

As stated numerous times on this forum, Find a vendor you like and trust! It is the vendor that makes the system work for you.

It would be unusual for a retail store to have a T1 - as they generally don't become cost-effective until you get to the 8-10 line arena at a bare minumum. The Partner is a good choice for retail applications - except it is a bit weak on T1. There are dozens of perfectly appropriate systems out there. The more important component is the vendor who will install and support you. A good vendor can make just about any system work well for your needs.

Most systems will do exactly what you're looking for. I would be wary of the ACS R.7. If you just gotta have a Partner system, you may want to look at the R.6. Just take a look in the Avaya forum to see what I'm talking about.

I completely agree with what Rage said, you need to carefully pick the installing company. As it is with so many trades, interconnects vary greatly on their service. Find one who comes highly recommended.

May I suggest you talk with Rich from Accelerated Telecom? He definitely knows his product, and he has made others on this board very happy with his service. If you can get past the fact that he is a Bulldog fan, he'll certainly be able to help you out.

I really like Asterisk when needing so many features. I've never installed one for business becuase it is software that runs on a linux system. But you may want to check it out.

As others have pointed out, there are many systems that will fulfill your current, and probably future, needs.
Personally, I can vouch for Panasonic, Northern Telecom, Mitel (believe it or not), NEC, as examples.
The things you are REALLY buying are local representation, knowledge, and responsive service.

FYI - I just haven't had the same problems other folks have had with Partner ACS R7. Have not had a failure YET (OK, watch the sky now open).
