Hello all,
I have a dozen or so Norstars with various configurations and software releases throughout our organization. i have been perusing the availble posts on upgrading the software and I have learned the foolowing (feel free to correct me):

I need to upgrade to at least 6.1 bfore going to 7.1

I will need to manually repragram all of my lines as theport assignments change

There is allegedly some sort of upgrade kit that will guide me through this, although I have no clue where to get one.

Anything else I should know? Will I have to do any other manual reprogramming or will everything else carry over?

Thanks in Advance!

greetings from the west coast,
seems to me that I use an Upgrade Tool to upgrade from 4.0 (4.1?) straight to 7.0 (no 7.1 yet). takes about 1/2 hour of sitting and waiting and watching. don't need to reprogram lines, it happens with the upgrade. recommend you document your systems, and do a backup first to CYA -- I've not had any problems. we're an end-user, purchased the upgrade tool from our supplier. I can give contact info, if you want it.

Actually, there is a 7.1 and it is the only fix for the new daylight savings time change coming up. Your daylight savings time will be off on any 7.0 or older software. I have not seen a 7.1 yet or know when it will become available.

ROYB, what can of tool do you have that upgrades straight from 4.0 or 4.1 to 7.0. In my experience I have used the upgrade tool that brings it from there to 6.1. Then after it has upgraded to 6.1, you install the 7.0 software for the last step and it takes WAY longer than a half hour. Any info would be appreciated as we have spent way too long on 1/2 of our upgrades.
Thanks

Two girls later and I'm back.....lol...been gone a while but see same faces still here. Lol

The tool that takes you to 7.0 from 4.1, is like going to 6.1 then 7.0.

I hope this will help clarify the upgrade.
Any system running 4.0 to 6.0 can use the single step to upgrade to version 7.0
Any system running 1.0 to 3.0 has to use the two step process. Step 1 takes it to 4.1 version then step 2 takes it to version 7.0.
The only problem I had with my two step upgrade was I had a plain T1. After the upgrade the lines were loop and I had to change them back to E&M.

Where does one get this tool? The company we buy our systems through never heard of it. When using this tool, what has to be done as far as manual reprogramming after the upgrade? Thanks again!
