Oh yeah! Not a flash. It is the C version of the large computer type.

Be careful as the 6x16 needs to be a DS cabinet. And what C version are you talking about, a call pilot?
Two girls later and I'm back.....lol...been gone a while but see same faces still here. Lol

C version is the one with the 5.25 floppy on the side. Pinout depends on the card. Could be 1 or 2 ports per and USOC wired. Believe 2.0 or 2.1 was the last version. Good luck.

Good luck with that. Sell them a flash at least it's Y2K compliant either.

I still have quite a few customers with the Startalk C. Like jwooten said, you can recognize them from the floppy drive on the side.
Version 2.0 and up was Y2K compliant. Since we're talking about a 616 here, I would try and use it. No sense selling them a Flash, what they really need is a whole new system with the current V/M model. I would never advise anyone to buy a Startalk but if they have it, this would buy them some time if they aren't going to upgrade the KSU.
Wires and programs pretty much the same as all Nortel V/M systems. And yes, as Nickels pointed out, make sure the 616 is a DS cabinet.

Cabinet has DR5 cartridge in it. Is this a problem? Client is on a tight budget. Bought a building with this unit in it. I re-installed it for them and they wanted VM. I picked the startalk up real cheap and could help them out and make a little too! They are not looking to do much more than an answering machine would. The unit has two port cards installed. I am assuming that is the 8 port version. I have never dealt with a startalk. Flash, yes! NAM too..

The 616s with disconnect supervision clearly had DS on them. The labels were also a teal color instead of the old gray. I wouldn't attempt putting a voice mail on a non DS cabinet.

Good advice!! Scott--do you understand why the 616 has to be a DS?? From past experience---don't be putting a VM on there without the DS--you will end up with an unhappy customer---and you will lose your shirt in call backs and service calls and you will look bad to your customer. Be smart. Tell your customer to be smart.

I'm not understanding why a DS. DS as in disconnect supervision or the model DS? Does the DS integrate with Startalk but not the newer VMs? Please enlighten me.
