This post is a continuation of my earlier post about installing a startalk version C to a 6X16.
I got it installed and working great. Must be a DS, becasue the lines are released.
The power supply fan in this unit runs continually and is a loud fan. Is this normal? Can these power supplies be replaced with a newer one that has a temperature sensor to cut in and out?
Help!! This may end up more than I bargained for.
You try and help someone out and give them a product they really can't afford and ..........ouch!
My preference would have been the flash, but was a little more than could close the deal.

If I recall they are just PC power supplies.
You get wht you pay for.

they take a slightly proprietary power supply, but a lot of older Gateway computers used the same. You might try just cleaning the fan, or even see if it is replacable, as they are in some cases.

We have one of these at a customers location and it has been noisy for years

You can also try lubricating the fan with WD-40 or something similiar.
