Just wondering if anyone has noticed a "lack of quality" in new pagers lately? Ever since Motorola got out of the paging business, I have noticed a decline in quality of product. The pagers "look" like the old motorola ones, but definatly aren't the same quality. I have no complaints about the service I get from my contact's, just what seems to be a product issue.
I thought I would see if anyone else has noticed anything. Our vendor was SBC and is now AMS.

Same here. We used them for our technicians to receive emergency pages at night and on weekends. Our paging company just couldn't get it right. We had one pilot number that called all of them, but it was constantly failing. Out of frustration, we went with another paging company we found in the phone book. Same thing, they worked OK individually but not through the pilot number. Our contact person moved away and the store was shut down. Billing just stopped one day and here we are with ten useless pagers.

It really does look like the end of the road is nearing with them.

You guys are not really instilling a lot of confidence in me. Unfortunatly we have about 400 pagers out there. Due to a number of reasons cell phones are not 100% reliable. I don't care which carrier you have. Of course I have about half as many cellphones. Giving everyone a Blackberry is deffinatly out. Oh well....

Cell phone reliability is exactly why we kept using pagers as long as we could. We also received confirmation that a page was received so that the techs couldn't use the "my phone didn't have a signal" excuse. Cell coverage has improved dramatically here in rural areas, so that's the way we had to go.

Telecom your right on the pager quality I use them in some nurse calls and have found the nurses destroy them in 2-3 months they used to last at least year or two If you find someone that still makes a good one let us know.

If it was built after 1980 don't expect it to work right.
