This is the second time I have seen this happening. I have a Mic's 4.1 that every three weeks will power cycle itself. I seen it on another MIC's a few years back. We replaced the power supply and it never fixed that trouble. We ended up replacing that entire system with a different VOIP system. I never did fix that trouble. That building had bad power in it. This system is on a UPS, that other system was also on a UPS. In the event log I have EVT 462. I am suspecting it is the backplane of the phone system. Any other thoughts?

Two girls later and I'm back.....lol...been gone a while but see same faces still here. Lol

Two different systems with the same problem??!! its odd. I think that power goes down for such long that time out is enough to get UPS batteries discharged completelly. That, in my opinion, makes your system loose power.

Maybe, but was there a power outage long enough to drain the UPS batteries?

The only time this had ever happen to us was on a fully loaded MICS. We discovered there where no dedicated outlets that the system was running on and i suspected the power was an issue, almost like a brown out. Any how i had 2 20/A circuits pulled in and redistributed the power of the MICS w/ups; this rectified the problem.

Maybe that UPS only for 20-30 minutes from Staples store?

Had same trouble with a CICS. It turned out that the electrical outlet had no ground. Electrician ran new circuit to outlet and fixed trouble.

Our location did not have a UPS.

Let us know what you find out.

If all else fails, use a BFH.

Well, I think we have it fixed, but won't know for a few more days. Replaced the backplane and it has not happened for 4 days now. We will see. As for the first locatoin, I was 99% sure same as JJ, that the ground on that outlet was bad, but never was able to fix the trouble before we replaced it.

Sometimes the circuit it's on can have a true load on it (i.e. compressor etc.) that can cause exactly as mentioned before, essentially a sag or a spike that can cause this kind of problem.

Beer, sure I'll try one
