ComShare 750 will not ring out of the telephone / answer mach. port more than twice and then it just hangs up on the caller. Unplug the Modem, problem gone! Any guesses?

How about if you unplug everything on the telephone/ans machine port?

You do have the DSL modem plugged in separately or "pre" the ComShare right and a filter before the input of the ComShare?

:bang:
Background: I have been in the interconnect business fo 25+ years. Yes I have unplugged the phone / fax / answer Mach. ports --same problem. power down the fax switch & the phone will ring untill answered by the answer Mach.
I have Two cat5e runs one for the DSL and one for the phone line then the filter then the ComShare.
I will pull a Stick off the shelf & try that, but normally I use the ComShare.

Okay, here's a thought; With nothing plugged into the output of the ComShare it is still picking up after 2 rings and disconnecting right? Could be that the DSL filter is not filtering out everything (which is not a surprise) and the ComShare thinks it's data coming in.
It is actually probably trying to send the call to another output port. You would have to plug in SLT or buttsets on all the ports to find it.
Try a different brand filter or stacking more filters in-line of the input.

I might try a third brand of filter I thought two different would be enough.
This only occurs when the modem is connected to the line, (it's own home run & no filter of course.) This switch is not a new installation the DSL how ever is the new addition

Bingo!
Stopped by & checked the programming of the modem pot it was to ring twice and hang up. Changed that to 20 rings plugged in the phone & amswer mach. picks up in 4 rings.
Filter!?!? :toast:
