Hello all ... just a quick question:
I want to upgrade a CICS cabinet from 4.2 software to 7.1 software. I have the 7.1 card. I do not care about having to reprogram the system. Is there anything else I need to do besides shut down the system, remove the old card, and insert the new card? Will the older KSU handle the new software?
Thanks in advance.

Ok ... I replaced out the 4.2 flash with the 7.1 ... now all the phones do is flash - Does it take longer for a system to startup when you upgrade the software?

It shouldn't take too long. If it hasn't booted in 20 minutes or so, you may be in trouble.
Try reloading the old software and see if it will come back up. If it does, do a start up on the old software. Then load the 7.1 software and try again.
Goodluck and let us know how it turns out.

Put 4.2 back. Do Start up. as only Configuring starts power down the syetm. It would Initiolize everything. Then put new 7.1 in and power back up.

This is the only way our company goes from R1T1 or 3.0 or 4.2 to new software. Leave the software in from start and do the startup and power down. If we don't need to keep the programming and not use the upgrade tool. For the sysem to rewrite itself, I have seen it fail more times than make it on insert and wait.
Two girls later and I'm back.....lol...been gone a while but see same faces still here. Lol

In order to do the startup don't you have to power the system down and back up and than do the startup within 15 minutes after power-up

10-4, yes, to do a startup you must power the system down and wait for it to come back up.
