Another question for the experts...

My question is setting the dialing timeout and Public Network DN lengths, and anywhere else I need to make changes.

System is a BCM400 4.0 with 5 BCM50's v2 at remote offices. CDP dialing plan. From Location 1, dial 9 for outside line. Dial 29 for outside line at location 2. Dial 39 for outside line at location 3, etc.

Problem is when dialing X9 for outside line at remote office, the BCM does not send it out the IP trunk until the dialing timeout expires. If I set the Public DN length for 29, 39, 49, etc to 2, then it sends it right away as I would want. However, if 293-xxxx is a local number at location 1, then dialing 9293xxxx to make a normal call is sent as soon as they dial the 29 in the string.

I assume this is because the 9 is dropped in the routing table, so the Public DN length option just sees the 29 and assumes that's all the digits.

What am I missing???

I want to dial 29, and have it connect right away, without affecting local calls that start with a 29, 39, etc.

Thanks!

Jeremy

Adjusting the timeout impacts how the dialed digits are analyzed. You have a typical dialing conflict, and the timeout plays a key part in resolving this conflict, by causing the system wait a specific amount of time for digits that are necessary in determining the type of '29' call to be collected, before analyzing them, prior to directing the call to it's correct destination. I recommend leaving the timeout alone. You can always try entering a "#" as your final digit, which is recognized by many different systems as a 'signal' that all required digits have been dialed and to disable any remaining timeouts.
