I have a EnGenius Durafon 1X long range cordless phone. It started "dropping" calls after the second ring before I could answer - all I got was a dial tone like they had hung up. Callers reported the call seemed like it was answered then hung up or cut off. I tried re-registering handset to base, reset factory defaults, moving phone to a different room, tried it on a different line, had Bell check phone lines, then finally sent them back for repair. I was sent replacement phones and base station, hooked it up and lost 2 of the first 5 calls - just like before. Is this a common problem for En Genius? I have only found positive feedback on the net. Most important to me is how do I correct this problem as they do have the range I need in a cordless.

EnGenius had their fair share of problems but they seem to have corrected most of them with the Durafon series (except for a charging issue). I use them a fair bit and even run one at home with an external antenna and no trouble.
You said you had Bell check the line, does this mean you have had issues without having the cordless base even hooked up? Do you have any other phones on this line and have you ran with them without the cordless as a line test?

I second twisted pair's comment. Unplug the cordless from the line, plug in a standard corded phone and make several test calls. It is sounding like an invalid call forward is in place... Mike

Same here,...............have had really good luck with the Durafon series. As stated above, I would check my CO line.

Yes I have checked the line with a corded phone and the line is clear, also the old 5.8ghz Panasonic cordless works fine except for range. I still have dial-up and have no problem except that it takes all day. As far as charge goes I have no problem set it on the charger at night and it is good for the day.I have the external antenna as well first thing i checked - all is good there and switching to the short antenna didn't help either. I called Bell as all my efforts didn't solve the matter so figured I could get them to check the incoming lines. I have a Bell answering service that kicks in after 5 rings checked that out too, also tried them on my computer line that has no extras on it, it is a good line as I get 45.2 on my 56k modem (yea , some of us are still in the computer stone age)- still no positive result. thanks ffor the comments so far

Why don't you switch the DuraFon over to your computer line and run with it there for a few days as a test.

I've sold a number of the Engenius phones and the tech support is very good if you are a dealer.
