Hi!
I have BCM 400 I am installing in our company. I have 3 GATM8 installed in the system. My problem now is that when I checked the telephony resources in BCM element manager, It only detected 20 lines instead of 24.

I double check my setting for the dip switch and they are all in the right settings.
What could be the problem with this? what should I do to make it see all 24 lines?

Thanks....

I may be thinking of something totally different, but here it is.

1) Do you have an active line connected to the amphenol for Bus 2.3 ??

2) For Bus 2.3 have you tried to change the N/A to Enable? or disable it then re-enable.

3) Have you tried a reboot?

4) Double check your dip switches - even turn them all the wrong way then back again.

5) You are sure that one is an 8-port not a 4-port module?? - This is one of those Duh questions and does not imply anything about you.

First GATM8 should have all dip switch settings should be ON for top half of BUS 2. The second GATM8 should have dip switch 2 off for the second half of BUS 2. The third GATM8 should have dip switch 6 off for the first half of BUS 3. With these settings, it puts the first two GATM8's in BUS 2 and the 3rd GATM8 in BUS3.

I know a little about a lot, and a lot about little.

@telemarv
yes, It is license for 24 lines

@NTlayoff
I didn't put an active line yet for the system, But the system should detect it even if there is no active lines to it.I already tried to reboot the system but it is still the same. I will try to change the dip switches and turn it back again and see what will happen. my MBM is definitely GATM 8 port and I am very sure of it.

@zsmilessss
I did follow your instructions and had problem with the 3rd one. the first two is correct and I thank you for that one, that solves my problem.

What I did is I double check all dip switches and made some experiments. the first bay I put to offset 0 bus 2, the second bay is offset 2 bus 2. the 3rd bay is offset 0 bus 3.

this is my mistake in the first place. I put the 1st bay in offset 0 and bus 2, 2nd bay is offset 1 bus 2, bay 3 is set to offset 0 and bus 3. I never thought that we have to look also in the offset and the buses that the bay will use in the system.

thanks for the reply.....

dhanzboy: I know that the DSM needs a live phone attached to it for it to come enabled. Didn't know if the GATM would or not.

Also, per Nortel specs, GATM's would usually be installed in bus 7, then 6, then 5, etc...
Not that it won't work in 2 then 3, but your lines will be "out of Normal range". As long as you keep them straight you will be ok. It's just that next guy that comes in after you that will say, "what the .........!!!"

Thanks for mentioning it. I totally forgot about that. I will now change the bus assignment for the MBM's
