Hi there, I'm a n00b to this board and I was referred here by a peer.
Anywho, just had a question at a site I'm doing. I've got a Nortel 3x8 system here and only 1 of the 8 extensions is ringing. I've recently re-wired it so is there some programming I have to do to get the other 7 ringing? Calling out is fine, it's just when I get a call in the phone (M7210) doesn't actually make a ringing sound, the 'line 1' button lights up fine and I can answer fine but just no audible ring. I've already tried selecting the ringing type and volume but still no go... anyone know what I have to do??
thanks in advance!

Are you sure that isn't a M7208 Phone??
Do you have any documentation?? Any Manual?? Supervisor guide??
You may have to get a M7310 to program the system. I'm not sure on that---but that's what we use to program all of the older NT systems that we service.
If you haven't done system programming before, it may save some time & money if you would call a tech to help you out and show you how do do programming and simple day to day tweaks.
That M7210 model is throwing me off.

Sounds like you have the lines set to "appear only". Lines must be set to "appear & ring".

There's no "Appear Only" on a 3x8 KSU system.
Programming can be done with a M7208, 7310 or 7324.
Go into Config, under sets & after line access is the ringing section. You decide which phones ring on which line.

BizTel.....this board is NOT just for techs.
We will give the end user, end user information. You will notice that I didn't not devulge any passwords, etc.
I told him where to go, not how to get there.
We are here to help...albeit to an extent.

This is board policy...
This open forum is searchable by search engines, it is board policy that installer level programming questions are answered from a what to do perspective rather than how to. "How to" in the wrong hands can compromise security of a telephone system and render it inoperable.
This policy applies to everyone; installers, consultants, CG's and yes even end users.
Dave's answer is within those guidelines.
