I am new to the Norstar system - i have experience with Toshiba Strata, and NEC (even the fake NEC DS versions)
Both of those systems have a (long) way of programming via the phone keypads, and a way to interface with a gui software..

I know most of the every day commands for the phone keypad interface for the Norstar Mics.. but is there a GUI software?

is it ip address based or is it a serial connection?

What is the phone programming software called?

Available for download somewhere?

What is the voicemail software called (if separate)?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

You are looking for Nortel Remote Utlities and to use it a connection must be made through a RAD. The BCM product lines are different. Given the same amount of programming, you with NRU and me at the keypad, I will be done and at home while your LT is still booting up! I carry several versions of NRU and never use them!!

Renet123,
Even programming through the RAD, you still have to know the telset programming, because an image of the phone pops up and it's like using the phone.

I am with jwooten, I would have the system done and on the way home before the computer booted up, expecially for something simple like changing a button or ringing. I am sure if you ask some specific questions here most of us would be willing to answer them.

I've been doing the Norstar since they started them and phone programming is really fast once you have a clue of how to do programming.

The only terribly important use of a RAD and NRU software is having someone else dial in and make changes if you find yourself way over your head.

I have a copy of NRU but never needed to use it.

You can use a RAD while onsite by connecting a serial cable to the DB-9 connection on the RAD, after you have punched it down onto a station and initialized it. Then use NRU to do the programming if you're more comfortable with using a PC on site. There is a browser tool in the NRU software that makes the programming a little easier to do if you're not familiar with the normal set programming. It also has an emulator that shows you a picture of the phone and allows you to program it that way. You can also program the RAD to answer a line for remote access or call in and have someone do a feature 9*0 to transfer you to the RAD for remote programming. I usually use a phone since I'm familiar with that, but some people like a computer interface better. Also the NRU makes it a little easier when looking at target lines, etc., but it normally is quicker to program through a phone...
