Customer wants a recording device and was looking at some that plug in between the phone and handset like a headset does. They then plug into the USB por ton thier PC to record straight to the PC. This will work except for one problem, They are EXPENSIVE!

Anyone ever found a good recording device that can record to a PC for less than 100 bucks?

Would also like to have for the office for all the phone support we do now that we are hiring more people.

Thanks.

Haven't seen any for $100..not for a FEW years. Meanwhile remind the customer that gas isn't 35 cents a gallon anymore either. Here's the link to the cheapest I've seen in a while.

Rage, What kind of phones?

There was a gizmo called M1010 Record/Monitor module in the Legend days.

As I recall it went between the Handset and the Recorder.

Target Ditributing lists a handset cord recorder for less than 15 dollars. But it's not USB, it would plug into a sound card's line-in jack.

As USB sound card from Newegg is between 15 and 60 dollars....

be careful with that usb stuff... you'll be getting service calls that the phone is dead when it is really a computer problem...the customer doesn't know the difference, they just know they can't make calls...

spoken from experience. I got a call today from the ONE customer we did this for and the receptionist can't use the phone because the stupid usb box plugs in between the handset and the base and the stupid usb box isn't working so the software can't tell the box whether to use the headset or the handset so now neither one works. AND the usb box's tech support doesn't answer the phone.

wow, the soap box is free now...

§ 10-403. Manufacture, possession, or sale of intercepting device.

I'm pretty sure we understand that recording is illegal in Maryland. 49 other states with different laws as well countless countries.

Michael...There are others out there. wink

Rage you can make an interface out of a non-polarized capicator and a 1:1 audio transformer. A surface jack makes a good project box for it. You can then run a line cord to the trunk and a 1/8 mono jack to the sound card on the computer.

It's not going to have a neat GUI interface or anything but for under $100 you don't have a lot of options. This will cost less than $15. We used to set them up for radio stations to put callers on the air.

Yeah Dave. I kind of wondered what relevance the Maryland Code had on Rage's question in Georgia

I wonder how the phone company stays out of jail....

If you read that law litterally, any phone man with a butt set is guilty of a felony.
