Is there any software release on the MICS available to block outgoing caller ID? Customer wants outgoing to say private. Local Telco (AT&T) says they cannot do this

Local telco should be able to do it. You can block on a call-by-call basis using Feature 819.

I just went through the same thing. Local Telco CAN do this, but they are too lazy. You've gotta go up the ladder a little higher.

On the other hand, the client risks not being able to contact certain parties who have Blocked CallerID blocking. Client won't be able to simply un-do the block by ATT with a simple code...it's "permanent".

Why not just do what "rpcurran" suggests and let them block on a per-call basis?

I don't know if this works across the board or whether it depends on the provider.
But I just had a customer who had about 6 people who make calls that didn't want their company name showing up on the caller ID.
I went into the programming under each extension.
Terms & Sets
Line Access
OLI#
When I changed that it changed what showed up on the caller ID.
I could put any number in there.
Orig they asked to put the ext number.
It worked but I said when the caller ID only shows 3 digits they may not answer.
So I put their main phone number in there.
Somehow filling this field prevented their company name from showing up.

Jim, I had a client ask for that very issue yesterday except they only want it on the coutesy extension. I was planning on going back there today to install a Caller ID Blocker. It's a small unit about $25 and you need one per line. I'll try your idea 1st and keep my blocker for a client without a CICS or MICS. I'll post if it works or not.

Sorry Dave,
OLI only works on MICS with PRI.
