A customer of mine called me and said that he has no inbound or outbound lines. When they try to dial outbound, they get the "no free lines" message. When you dial inbound, at first there was a fast busy tone and now there's a message saying "call cannot be completed due to telephone company equipment problems". The carrier claims it's not them, but I think it is due to the fact that I wouldn't think you'd get a fast busy if the circuit was good. Am I wrong in this thought? Any ideas? Thank You

You should be able to determine where the trouble lies by analizing the diagnostic lights on the front of the DTI card. The LED indicators are described in detail in the doc's. You should probably ask for Loopback test from the carrier.

If the circuit is down you can get that or similar mesage.
If the circuit is up but you don't have any target line prog for that number dialed and no prime set assigned - you can get that.
If the circuit is good, target line prog but the prime set has no more paths to the phone (all appearances and I/C's are busy) you can get that.

But you can't call out, also.
As long as routing is good - sounds like a circuit problem.

As Richard said, Check the lights on the card and also the smartcard.
Do loopback test to the carrier.
Also put a loopback plug in the T1 card - lights should go green after about 1-5 min.

If you have that Message don't even think twice: the problem with circuite itself or Smart Jack. If problems with equipment you are going to have two conditions: one is abusy signal or all calls comes to the Dial 0 point which is usually first port. In your case its provider because you are getting: No available lines.

Thanks for all the help. Funny thing, later on in the day/evening, the circuit magically came back up. The carrier rep told me that they did nothing and everything was good. I don't know if I believe them though!
