I don't know a way to do it if they want to press a line, but if you want to program a button, here is the way: Press Feature *1, press the button to program, press an intercom button, enter the line pool code and then enter 9 (for the centrex code).

You need to use routing & destination codes instead of line pools codes. Set up a destination code of 9 to use a line pool for the centrex lines. Then when they dial 9 for outside line, do not absorb the 9 and it will send it out on the centrex line.

i think these people are just to stupid to remember to dial 9 anyway that being said i think that procedure will be too much for them. hey if it cant be done then it cant be done thier just gonna have to cope with it. i cant stand when a customer is so much against change that they cant just dial an extra digit. some people can be such pains in the ass.

I just told you how to do it.
But why did they go to centrex lines and then want to automatically bypass the centrex part of it ? They could never call station to station or transfer a call if they auto bypass the centrex part.

SIMPLE SOLUTION: Assuming you have set the Prime line to one of the lines or best if they're in a Pool, with that Pool as the prime...
Feature *1 Choose a speed dial button press 9, then OK
Then they press that button and it will automatically take an idle line and pre-dial the 9 for you.
