PBX: Norstar Plus MICS Release 1-T1 SP: 30nCG20 Sets: Meridian 7310 Voicemail: StarTalk Flash Anticipated Remote Equipment: Citel ExTender 4000
We are setting up two Meridian 7310 phones in home offices, and would like the remote home phones to exactly mirror our internal office extensions (see above for equipment and versions). Unfortunately, I am the "Phone Guy" in a small 6 person office, a position for which I am obviously ill-equipped. I would be very grateful to anyone who can answer the following questions:
1. Is our equipment and version capable of accomplishing the task, or do we need software/hardware upgrades?
2. How do I get the remote home phones to mirror the ports to which the internal office extensions are assigned? (Answer DNs don't work for me because I also want the VM notification to show up on both the home and office phones, and I would also like to use Voice Call, which doesn't seem to work with Answer DNs)
Thank so much!
Bob

to the show Bob. The MCK (Citel) extenders simply "extend" Norstar ports throught the internet. You program the sets as if they are on site. Yes R1T1 will run through the MCK. For question 2 you will need a voice mail version that has "Alternate Extension". I believe it came out in Flash 2.0. With Alternate extention you can have one mailbox assigned to two phones (3 with the latest Call Pilot version). No Voice Call does not work with answer DN.

I've got a couple of customers with the MCKs that telemarv speaks of. One has 12 extensions at that location. This is an older set that uses a point to point T1. They even use a CAP unit and answer the lines there in the day. It works great and does everything, but has a little learning curve. This is pre-voip stuff.
The owner (travel agency) even has as single phone unit at her house that uses a POTS line to call between the 2 locations, then the Norstar phone syncs up and operates as an extension as long as you want. It does tie up the line while in use.

Thanks guys...I sincerely appreciate your comments. Instead of trying the MCK Extender, do you think we would be better off migrating to something like Nortel BCM50?
