Hi,

On one of our other sites, we have a number of Norstar M7208N phones and one of the users recently requested a headset for one. So after careful research we purchased a Plantronics model which is listed as compatible.
Unfortunately, the user can't get it to work with the phone so we called Plantronics and they said the reason for it not working was that the phone was not programmed to accept the headset ?
Does this make sense to anyone and if so does anybody know how to resolve the problem ? I guess it's something to do with 'handsfree' ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The M7208 does have a headset jack (I'm not familiar with the N) and it should activate by pressing the handsfree on your phone.

It sounds like the Plantronix guy is delusional

I believe the M7208N is a series sold mainly in the UK. I have 2 M7310N's that I picked up cheap from eBay. Bought more for curtiousity than anything, but they work just like a M7310...only slightly different.

Not at all. The phone has to have Handsfree enabled if you're attaching the headset through the headset jack in the back. Or depending on the headset, just connect it into the handset jack if you're not using the handset.

What headset model did you get?

Touche...I am so used to always having HF enabled, I forgot about that being a programming factor in the headset...

Hi there,

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post.

The headset we purchased is a Plantronics Polaris P251.

I'm assuming the guy at Plantronics is talking about enabling the Handsfree on the handset then which I have to admit I don't have a clue about how to do !

With a name like "Norstar123", you should KNOW how to do it, but I see by your profile that you are not an installer.

Best advice, get one in there to set it up for you.

Is that complicated then that a novice couldn't do ?
I'm assuming that it's a matter of enabling Handsfree from the handset keypad ?

It's in the programming. If you can't program, get someone in who can. No we won't tell you how; that's beyond the scope of this forum.
