I want users to hear dial tone when they make an outbound call on PRI-A. I know where to find 2nd dial tone in program but what value do I input so this can happen? Am I missing something else?

If you are using 9 as your dial out number, then put 9.

It should be what ever your destination code is to access the PRI.

As a service guy I have never seen a PRI w/ 2nd dialtone. I have asked support people on at least 1 occasion and was told it was not available. I would like to know the answer to this ? as I have 2 sites that will be switching from POTS service to PRI service in the near furture. Thanks in advance.

CTCINY & telmarv are correct. Look in Services. I have turned this on several times with 7.1.

Tazmanian, It's not a PRI with second dial tone. It's Norstar's fake dial tone to make client feel like you are grabbing a line.

Great, so then the dial string would be "9" in the Second dial tone table,Table#01. There will be only 1 destination code in either on the 2 Norstars. Will try this soon. Thanks

Is this topic related to being able to dial out on PRI without dialing a 9? I had that issue on our switch after it scrambled from a power bump. I figured it out. If you want to get dial tone and not have to put in a 9 to dial out on PRI-A, here is what you do. Of course make sure your dial plan is setup the way you want it. There can be no conflict between dial plan and dest codes. Set prime line to I/C. In Dest codes, add your local prefixes. For us it is 503 and 971. Then at 1A for long distance. Make sure route is set to your PRI route and delete 0 digits. Works like a champ!! If you have any restrictions you need to implement on specific phones, you will have to dig deeper.
