I hope someone can point me in the right direction or share with me what you use.
I'm looking for a test unit that will test every aspect of a POTS line; speed, bandwidth, attenuation, I'm talking everything that can be tested on a POTS; I want to test.
Thanks for your input

For testing in I use my butt set and a volt ohm meter. The Tempo Sidekick may be what you're looking for, although I've never felt the need for one. Speed and bandwidth on DSL usually I just run a speed test to PC Pitstop, or other bandwith testers.

Have you looked at the Harris TS-1200?

If it's low at the DEMARK your best test would be line voltage and loop current. You don't need a special test set for that, just a volt meter, most check current too. Bill

How about a Triplett Model 4 Loop Tester?
I'd sure like to have one again!

I work for a CLEC, and I can't imagine a day without my Tempo Sidekick. The basic model (7B) offers a lot of great functionality. The T&N (transmission & noise) model covers all the basic features, plus loop current, loss, power influence and load coil testing. The Sidekick is a great test set, but it won't tell you about attenution. It can measure loop loss, but only at 1000Hz. You might want to look at the 3M/DynaTel 965DSP. Nice unit with TDR features. As much as I hate steering folks to other forums, https://www.mccartyinc.com has a lot of info related to outside plant testing & DSL deployment.
