I’ve have a client that has a BCM 50 using an Integrated PRI for both voice and data. They have acquired another building and want to use 8 IP phones for their new office. My question is can the BCM support IP phones thru a this type of configuration? What problems or limitations should the IP phone user expect?
Thanks Walt

Support depends on how these building are interconnected.

Marv, The new office will have a full T1 data circuit. The CLEC will be providing circuits to both sites. Thanks for the responding to my post!

And how will they be networked? IP phone connections depend on the data network.

Get the BCM it's own public IP address and bypass the firewall. Program the IP phones to point directly to the BCM's public IP address and you should be good. Make sure you change the default username/password for security purposes.

i'd like to know if the above configuration works. I've only gotten IP phones to work over a VPN and have had no luck with the public static ip.

It is not recommended to put your phone system on a public IP address.

that's why i didn't do it, i was afraid it would be hacked. but sometimes the VPN is slow and I have a customer whose VPN is not set up correctly and it's out of my hands. i just hear the complaints.

I just found out in a sales meeting today that the customer and Telcom provider have requested a public static ip! (Cost benefits?????) I guess I'm back to the drawing board!
Thanks the update......
