I installed a new mics and took out an old toshiba, in a lawyers office today. They have a genises call accounting package and an SMDR 6. They want to make sure that staff use acount codes when making long distance calls, to bill there clients. So I programmed toll restrictions and set up one COS password for all sets.

Customer now have to enter Feature 68 xxxxxx, intercom 9 (outside line), Feature 900 + account code ( so smdr logs call) then 1-604-555-5555.

Any suggestions on how to shorten this poccess?

You could create a "chain" command to make this all on 1 speed dial button up to the actual number being dialed.

Why are you using the COS password? You could program feature buttons for the F68 and F900.

Dave i tried entering it into a speed dial, but it would not accept it. Could you give me more info on what you mean by, You could create a "chain" command.
Marv I used the COS password so that the staff can not make long distance calls. If they make a LD call then the smdr6 has to record it, for billing purposes.

I'd talk to Genesis about it - if the customer has an up to date subscription Genesis is VERY helpful. I've been totally impressed with them...

Try this...

F*1
Press a button
F*9 (Create a chain)
F68xxxxxx
F78
9
You may need a F78 here...
F900
You may need a F78 here...
Account code
You may need a F78 here...
then whatever number you're calling
F*9 (Close chain)

You'll have to experiment with the pause code (F78)

Hi Dave, I was on site today and tried your suggestion.
F*1
Press a button
F*9 (Create a chain)
F6
It would not allow me to enter any more digits after F6. It also would not allow me to enter F900 for the SMDR6.
On there old Toshiba system they pressed a line out key, pressed a 2nd key, (That allowed long distance and call logging) entered the account code, and call would complete.
So of coarse being the busy lawyers that they are, they want the same proccess on the MICS, and dont want to enter extra key strokes.

Toner, I did have Genesis remote in to there software as they had to change settings from Toshiba to Nortel. They are very good people to work with, however were not able to help with this issue.
