You have the capability of (8) phone lines from your service provider. This also depends on whether the proper hardware is installed on the CICS as well. To get the maximum configuration you would have to have two trunk cards installed in the system.

thanks for all the replies. It's very helpful.
Just to clarify Richard, our Nortel system can only accept up to 8 phone lines? If we only 1 trunk lines, does it means that we can only have up to 4 lines?
Thanks!

CICS comes 4X8 4 lines 8 stations/sets Expandable to 8X16 via Line Card and Keycode (if restricted software). Expandable again to 8X24 if you purchase an expansion card (gets you 16 to 24 sets)
Yes if you install another line card then you get lines 5 to 8.....however it also depends on the software release as they did sell the software as restricted. If you have access to config programming then got to Maintenance/System Version and give us the SP code.

4 lines 8 stations/sets: this means 4 lines 8 phone setS?
we have about 40 phone sets active...
Does this mean we have two 8 line 24 stations/sets?
It is probably a dumb question. I'm not familiar with Nortel Phone, please bear with me.
Thanks!

. My software guide says you have a MICS not a CICS. If you have 40 phones connected - then you do NOT have a CICS. Your MAIN unit is a 8x32 with 2 trunk cards. If only 1 trunk card then you can only get 4x32. With 40 phones - then you must have an additional Station Module. If you have one trunk card you will need to add another trunk card to get up to 8 lines. Beyond that, since you have a MICS then you can add Trunk modules to gain more phone lines.
If CON is the opposite of PRO Then what is the opposite of Progress?

Curlycord,
Im not sure where to find the NT Code.
We have a Nortel Plus Modular ICS NT7B53. I saw two modules with sticker NT7B74AAAA 01 on them.
In addition, we also have two M0X16 and one M12X0.
i'm confirming the lines we have and determine the simultaneous calls possible. For now, I also want to confirm what is set-up for simultaneous calls (if there's any) on my phone system.
Thanks!

I suspect this question can only be answered by a telephone tech on-site. It looks like you have 2 T1/PRI cards which can support up to 24 calls each. You may have up to an additional 12 analog lines as well depending on what other line cards are installed.
This is not to say all those lines are active. You would have to check your B channels and get some info from your carrier as well.
You could check your phone bill for info too...
