I have been trying to solve this for a very long time now. If anyone can help, please do.

Scenario, Caller, Jill calls Company ABC. John answers the call.
John “transfers” Jill. Does a LINK, calls Susan on her cell.
John Links again…now it is a simple 3 way call.
John releases the call.
Jill and Susan continue their conversation.
***Flash Transfer***

3 Times in my life I have had where John releases the call and all parties get disconnected. I am dealing with this on my own work line. I have explained this to Bell in every way shape and form. I have even shown them at a customer’s site, then on my own phone. Bell just “accidently” gets disconnected every time I call them now.

Can someone please tell me what I am missing on my line? I have “every feature” there is on a business line. I am using a BCM 200 3.7, not that it really matters, as the line does not support the transfer.

Does it work with single line set on the line?

Check link timer. Default is 600msec. CO could be seeing it as too long and disconnecting instead of flashing.

Yes it works with a single line set. Would changing the link timer make a diffrence when I disconnect? At that point, I already have the 3 way.

From Bell's "smart touch guide"

How to use Three-Way Calling ££ service:
• While on a call (or after placing the first call) put the party
on hold briefly by pressing the Link or Flash button. Listen
for three short beeps followed by regular dial tone. Press *71.
• Dial the number of the second party you wish to call. When
the third person answers you can either briefly press the Link
or Flash button to connect all three parties immediately or
consult privately and press the Link or Flash button when
finished to return to the original call.
• If the number of the third party is busy or does not answer,
or if you dial the wrong number, press the Link or Flash
button twice to return to the original call.

• Either of the called parties can hang up at
any time without interrupting the call. The
party establishing the three-way call cannot
hang up without terminating the call.

Marv, you said “Either of the called parties can hang up at
any time without interrupting the call. The
party establishing the three-way call cannot
hang up without terminating the call.”

I know what you are saying about the original caller cannot hang up, but in this case, it is not the original caller, it is the middle man that hangs up and the last called and the original caller are also disconnected.

I have at least a couple of clients who use this successfully all the time.

Both are insurance companies. Client calls agent, who want to send him/her straight to the company.

Link (F71), then call main office, join in if wanted then hangup and let client talk straight to company without agent being tied up. Works well. here.

I am confused or reading dead wrong....

I would say if has only happened to you 3 times in your life then those 3 times there was just a glich on the bell line or they were out of conference cicuits at the time?.

"I am using a BCM 200 3.7, not that it really matters, as the line does not support the transfer."

Normaly I would say if the line does not support the the transfer then how can you expect to transfer?...but you said only 3 time in your life you had the issue.

I would make sure that you have a Local Link line or a Centrex line, all other Bell lines including Rez do not support it.

Call Transfer / 3-way Calling
Transfer a caller to another phone number, for rapid response to customer inquiries and concerns. Or, add a third caller to a call in progress and hold meetings over the phone.

Call Transfer / 3-way Calling is a shared feature between the 2 because uses same method.
But one or the other may not be a feature on the line.
A rez line would ony have the 3 way, not the Transfer, Local Link would have both.

Curly, 2 customers and now my own business line, it is every call this does not work. If this only happened once, I would be very happy right now. My business line has “all the bells and whistles”. I am going to switch service providers, but I would still like to know why Bell cannot get this to work. Just in case this ever comes up again.

Dave, I use this all the time with customers that have more than one location and for anyone that just wants to use it. It is one of the best features a line could have if it works. Programming a one touch transfer button? I have never seen some customers so happy.
