Here's an interesting one:

A client has a "house phone" in the lobby that customers use to make certain business-related calls and the receptionist needs to be able to conference-in on those calls from her desk.

The only difference between that phone and others is the class of service I've assigned which restricts toll calls and it's a different set (but still a Nortel), which has a display but no line buttons. It's not a 3710 like I believe the others are.

I want this phone to have its own line assigned, so that line privacy can be disabled to allow the receptionist to conference-in without disabling line privacy for the rest of the line pool. If there's a better way to accomplish this without removing a line from the existing line pool, I'd be more than happy to go a different route.

I have assigned prime lines to a few other sets in the office and they work as expected. However, those settings appear to be ignored for the phone in the lobby. I've tried assigning the single line to a new line pool and assigning that pool as the prime line, I've configured the line to "appear" at that set under Lines configuration, etc. to no avail. I can access that pool by dialing its access code at that phone but can't get it to work as a prime line... it still defaults to intercom on pickup.

I even performed a restart of the system just in case, but that had no effect.

Any ideas on what could be going on here? I'm not sure why this won't work on that phone.

Thanks!

- Phil

If it's an SLT (Single Line Telephone) working off an ATA, then the Prime Line will always be I/C.

Even with an SLT, you can still conference that extension with Reception and 1 other caller, internal or external (Feature 3) and still leave all your lines as is in the pool.

Is that set a 7100? 7100's always default to Intercom. You could prime it to the line you want and program the 7100 to an External hotline, with a Feature 78(pause). The only thing here, is if they want to intercom someone from that set, they would have to pickup the phone, then press RLS to use the intercom. What type of system are you running and what type of line configuration do you have?

Two girls later and I'm back.....lol...been gone a while but see same faces still here. Lol
