I am an NEC tech but I was wondering one of my custmoers has an 8x24 and they have an employee in another state. On the Norstar is there any virtual extensions? They are answered by the voicemail and they would like the caller to be able to dial an extesion # and leave a msg for that person.
Any help would be appreciated.

You can create a guest mailbox, you just dont assign an ext for it.
You can also set it up so that the mailbox calls the user to let them know they have a message if you allow it in COS.

But what happens if they dial the extension number internally?

That wont work.....internal people would have to do Feature 980 XXX to leave a msg or they can transfer a caller into the mailbox with F986 XXX.

Please read the OP's question. The user is in another state. He doesn't need a phone connected to the system at all. Curlycord is right on.

luv2ski is right. Only SL ext. can be forwarded into MB without physically connected to the system and be dialed internaly and externaly..
