Hi guys,

I have a two-year old BCM 400 with 4.0 software that I'm having a problem with. It seems for the past week or so it has performed a System Startup every morning between 6AM and 9AM. This behavior started to occur after we had a 10 second power loss and the UPS didn't hold-up which caused it to hard-boot. So, I might have a hardware issue but I'm wondering if the morning reboots are significant. Is there any scheduled tasks during that time that might be causing this? I don't have backups scheduled or anything else that I know of during that time. Anything else I might look into? Logs? Alarms?

It doesn't make any sense. If this is a System problem it would reboot much more frequently than ones in Morning. Maybe there is some power saving schedule in the area and power goes off at certain time and comes back on some time in the Morning.

1-Have you since replaced the defective UPS?

2-Has the local "Sparkie" been working there within the last week or so? He might have rigged a switch or timer on that power source.

3-Any chance housekeeping/maintenance is unplugging the system to plug in a vacuum, etc?

Good comments from both of you. I haven't got the new batteries yet for the UPS and found another device on that same UPS that was rebooting as well. I'll pull the UPS out and see if that solves it. I suppose the timing on the reboots threw me off, in any case I feel like a dum-dum!

BCMs need patches to be applied regularly; if your UPS is not the cause, call a BCM-certified technician; they (we) are the only ones who can access Nortel portal for patch download
