Installing new (first) bcm 450, but sets on my mbm dsm32+ won't start, even blink. In 400 and 50 u dont need a keycode to activate MBMs; is there a step I'm missing?
BTW, in the resources, my MBM is saying "enabling", but nothing happens...

I have not taken a BCM-450 from new to startup. But I believe that the 450 is just like the BCM50's - everything has to have a keycode. Someone will correct me if I am wrong with this.
Check out your keycodes and resources. That will tell you how many Digitals sets you are allowed to have. If you have keycodes entered, then disable and re-enable the module. And you must have a phone plugged into the module for it to come up to ready mode.
If CON is the opposite of PRO Then what is the opposite of Progress?

On a BCM 450 - DSM32+ the dip switches need to be set in order for dsm32+ to work. Look up the dip switch settings in the Installation Manual.

All 6 dip switches should be on for the main unit. You need to set the switches if the module is in the expansion unit.

NT - on a 50 you need a keycode for the expansion module, 400s and 450s do not have internal digital sets.
reliable: dip switches need to be set for combo/gatm MBM; DSM MBM have to be set to factory default (all on) as digital ext. MBM do not need profile download.
I've tried deconfigure/configure, which asks me a startup numbering plan; the BCM sees it,; the most I've accomplished is to get the phone to blink. I tested the MBM on our office BCM 200 r4.0 and it works. I'm lost...

Ok, here it is; don't know if it's in the docs...
In 4.0 and prior, dip switches determined the position, on a 450, u start from bottom shelf up, with all dip switches at on (factory default)
U still have to set them for expansion cabinets though. Yeah, thanks for keeping it simple guys; no wonder you're going under Nortel...

Yanick: My mind was thinking 50 but trying to think 450 and read the info wrong.
Just something wild to try. Have you tried telling the system you have a Trunk module, save it, then change it back to a station module? I have seen a couple of Nortel prompts that you have to do that to. Whether the 450 needs it is anyones guess.
