I have a ccis running 4.1 software. I am upgrading to 7.1. I do not have the upgrade toolkit to be able to retain programming. My plan is to install the new software and reprogram system. When I install the new software nothing happens. Phones just blink. Can the new software be installed without the toolkit?

Sure, but you have to do a 'Startup' to default the cabinet. BUT, if the CICS is the one that uses the 'carrier cartridge' you may need a later release of cartridge. ( can't remember if it's the CICS or the Modular) Somebody with more knowledge will chime in soon, I hope.

It can be installed without the toolkit. But, you cannot go direct from 4.1 to 7.1.

Why don't you ask the dealer selling you the 7.1 to loan you a 6.1 for the upgrade?

I have a way to install from 4.1 to 7.1 without the use of the 6.1 software upgrade tool. Some of you may have heard of it. It is loosly called "Flatlining" the system. You would have to re-program system afterwards so it may not be worth it. This method is not supported by Nortel or any warranties..Just go into a System Startup and start the process ("applying"), as it begins you just pull the power cord. Then you can go direct to version 7.1. I have done this in a pinch, but just adding some info if others would like to try it on a bench system or an old cabinet you don't need. For the time it takes I would just borrow a 6.1 cart and do it the right way. This way you do not loose the system programming or warranty. p

JB- You should be fine with the equipment you have. The only thing is the voicemail. I do not recognize the part number. Where are you getting the numbers from? Do you know what version of software the voicemail is?
