I have a Callpilot 150 Mini running v3.1 software that ties into a Nortel MICS system. I have had two occasions so far when the Callpilot defaulted to factory defaults and I would like to find out why so I can correct the problem, if possible. The first time was when the phone system was physically moved to a new facility. The Callpilot was unplugged for approximately 30 minutes and when plugged back in I found that everything was wiped and I was presented with the quick setup wizard. The second time was when we installed a new UPS and I had to briefly power down the unit. With the first Factory default in mind I plugged the Callpilot into a receptacle providing utility power where it remained for about one hour, then when the UPS was running I unplugged the unit and plugged it into a UPS protected receptacle and the same thing happened. After the unit came up I found that everything was wiped and I was presented with the setup wizard. So far it has only defaulted when the unit was powered off (unplugged) but to be honest it has me a little gunshy. My last backup was performed in November of 2009 so I am long overdue and I need to make sure everything goes smoothly because I hate to think about the response I will get if I have to report that a majority of mailboxes were lost for a third time. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Defective software can cause this problem. This happened to me on my first 2 CP installs. Bad out of box, both of them.

In my case the Callpilot and the MICS were purchased together as a used system so it sounds like my only option is to purchase new software. Forgive my ignorance but I am still learning how to maintain the system... where is a good place to purchase software for the Callpilot? If I look in system properties the voicemail version shows: 31.10.14.22. Is there a newer version available?

You'll have to contact a Nortel dealer.
