Hello everyone. I have a Norstar MICS 7.0 phone system and I need to impliment call accounting. From what I have read there are different types of SMDR devices available but it is my understanding I need one to interface the MICS to a PC to save the call logs. Ultimately I would like to be able to enter a certain criteria and generate reports from call history. What is the recommended setup to accomplish this?

I would suggest to read the document from the 3rd party software. All an SMDR does is spit out raw data to the software or a printer.

Thanks for the response Curlycord, but I was hoping get feedback on the software people were using. I already did some research and found several options and was looking for an unbiased opinion on what people thought were good software packages.

I talked to an RSI sales rep and it sounds like Shadow CMS is a good choice. He mentioned that it will work with an SMDR6 or a CK100. What is the difference between the two, and what are the pros and cons of using either option?

I think you mean a CTA-100. And the newer one is the CTA-160i.
The SMDR is an older unit and the CTA-1xx is a newer style ( the CTA-160i goes inside your PC in an empty slot [not sure what style slot you need] )
