Isn't there an option on UBB to change the default order of display to 'newest first' ?

When following a thread that is 5 pages long it would be nice to have the reverse order. I believe that this can also be a user selectabe option.

If this option is enabled here, I can't find the switch.

If you click on the last post (all the way to the right) it comes up in reverse order or takes you to the last post.

I'll check on the options and see what there is.

I don't see a 'last post' link, I have a 'Previous< >Next' however.

If you look at this page:
https://www.sundance-communications.com/forum/ultimatebb.php?/ubb/forum/f/1.html
And look at the Installers Category Permissions Ver. 14 post,
all the way to your right you'll see:
January 23, 2007 08:30 PM
by test-ok

and if you click on the link in there by test-ok
it takes you to the last post in that thread. Unless that's not what your talking about.

No, I was speaking of reordering the thread as I view it, so the newest post is on top rather than on bottom.

Then a 5 page long thread, the newest post would actually be on page one at the top, and the first post would be on page 5 at the bottom.

I've seen other UBB sites set up this way, and I think that it also a user option if the Admin wishes to enable it. I also understand that there are hundreds if not thousands of combinations of settings for the Admin, not to take your job lightly

For threads like pics and jokes that would work but for regular threads you would read the remarks in reverse order which wouldn't make much sense.

If it was built after 1980 don't expect it to work right.

Part of the problem with reversing threads is that the newest post is at the top, and your reply box is at the bottom. That's why the last post hyperlink is such a useful alternative.

Unless you also enabe a reply button per post.

I know it wouldn't make sense for some threads, but for some it would, hence the 'user option'

Some boards do it, I was not looking for a debate, just an answer.

I'm satisfied, case closed :thumb:
