Hello, in the past (2 or 3 times) I've sent customer's POTS cards to various repair services or just ordered them a new card. Now "MY" MICS 4-Line CID POTS card has fried and I have electronics background and would like to fix my card myself. I was wondering if someone could tell me where the fuse is that blows on these cards so I can try to repair my own system. I don't think I would ever repair a customer's system myself unless someone on this forum feels like it's a good idea but I do want to give it a go on my own system! Have any of you tried this?

I remember the old Tie CX station cards. They had tiny things that did not look anything like a fuse, but I was clued into where they were by a repair facility.

You might try asking where you sent the customer's card or asking for a discount as it is YOUR card.

There would probably be 8 of them, one for each side of each line. I'd look for sets of two pieces. There would be no connectivity with the continuity tester.

And, you could try asking suppliers if they have fuses for the card, if they do, they would know where the parts go.

And for all those AT&T/Lucent/Avaya partner carriers, there is a special ($4.00) fuse behind the white panel at the top, you don't have to throw the carrier away if it dies. LOTS of screws to take out to get to the fuse, but its there on the top right but hidden, gee thanks AT&T.

Edited to remove supplier

I was always curious as well about where those common parts would be that get blown up. I know on the newer CI cards, you're probably out of luck unless you can solder float the parts to replace them. Regular soldering won't cut it. But, if you do find out on the older cards, I'd be curious, so shoot me a line if you get your answer.

A blown fuse is a symptom, not a cause. You need to find out why the fuse blew in the first place. Just swapping in a new fuse will probably be a short term fix.
