Bunnie: I will check out the voltages.

I was reading our fax machine manual today (who ever does that) it states that if used in a PBX or isdn environment that the modem speed may need to be reduced. So I am looking at that too, I don't know if i just set it on the fax machine or on the cics DN under ata settings or both, or neither.

I think the ATA2 has a speed limit, maybe 14K, that could be the issue right there. The 911 fax may be sending at G4 speed and the ATA2 will let it ring and answer but not let the speed through.

This problem has been solved: The dispatch center just did a software upgrade to their consoles. The director told me he would have the modems 'looked at' when they did the upgrade. The problem has magically disappeared and the faxes are rolling in as they should be.

I did check all the voltages and everything was acceptable. The only other thing they have is complete line control, the line will not disconnect until 911 releases the call on their end. That did not seem to have any effect however.

Thanks for all of your suggestions and help.

Thanks for the update. It might help any future tech's problem.
