Coming straight to you guys with this; moved an MICS for a corporate customer, never worked for them before.

When I arrived on site all the phones were unplugged, should have plugged in a phone to test and look at the port configuration but didn't. I pulled the cabinet off the wall, it was powered up.

Installed it in their new office, all led's and the red msg lamp are flashing on all the phones. Can not do anything with any phone (insert expletive here). Brought station 221 to the mainframe, connected it directly to the first port on the equipment block and get the same result. The cabinet was without power for about 2 hours.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Give it time. It may require a couple of reboots.

I've power cycled a couple times, initially waited 10-15 minutes before the panic set in.

I connected 221 first, saw the blinking and went on to 222. Had to tone out the jack, connected 222 and looked at 221, stil blinking. It's been over an hour now that all the stations and co's are connected. I will reset power again. I'll reply again in 10 minutes. Thanks.

Just a thought. Where is, or what happened to their previous tech? How much of a lead time did they give you for the move? In other words, did they call a few days ahead of time, or was it more of a "Can you send someone right away to us?"

If the 2nd, you may be being played a sucker....as in someone to blame for a known system failure and a sucker to try & get to replace it for free.

Not to worry, corporate called me last week and set it up. Their aren't many if any Nortel dealers in the area. I went to there site a couple days ago to look at the scope of work, the phones were working then. I called corporate, they set me up with their guru. Tried reseating all the cards, tried removing all the cards and only having one amp plugged in, still flashing buttons. Software?

Do you have a voicemail connected to it? If so disconnect it. Power down back out all cards in the cabinet. Disconnect all external modules 0x16, 0x8 etc... connect 221 right at the frame and make sure the software is seated. Try to power up 7.1 can take awhile to power up. Don't watch it, have a smoke, take a walk whatever. In my experience 1 minute watching is like a half hour so I usually make a slooow trip to the truck and back.

Good luck,
John

Just a thought. Were the stations labeled port 101-ext. 221, 102-ext. 222, 103-ext. 223? Could 221 be on some other port and the first port have been programmed for something weird?

Are you connected to the top amphenol and middle and bottom amphenols disconnected?

Did you (hope not) pull out the software cartridge under power?

Does any extension come up at all?

The latest. Corporate sent me a MICS over night, installed it this morning and the phones come up fine. No voicemail on this switch.

My new question is...does it make sense to power it down, remove the flash card and put it in the old memory module and see if programming is still there? Or do I just program from scratch?

More details:

When I moved the system, I powered it down first then removed the cross connect. I took the 66 blocks off the wall, never disconnecting the amp cables. I brought it to the new site, mounted it and the 66's on the wall, toned out the first jack (221 according to the user) cross connected it to the first port and powered up the cabinet. Watched the blinking lights for a couple minutes and moved on to the second station. After an hour it still hadn't booted up. I powered it down, reseated all the cards, including the memory and flash card, then powered it back up. No success. I know the MICS isn't hot swappable.

Thanks again everyone.
