I doubt this is possible, but I thought I'd ask anyway.
I need to have calls and such originating from one extension to show up to the rest of the system as if it is a different DN#.
What I'm not looking for: "on-the-fly" DN changing/spoofing, where I engage the spoofed DN# "at-will".
What I am looking for: calls from one *specific* DN should always show as being from a different -- and also specific and unchanging -- DN, and this mapping will be permanent/long-term.
It is not an option to simply change the DN of the extension in question.
Why? It's related to my IP phone extension project (which is where I'm putting the VMI to work). If you need/want to know the specifics, I'll explain in more detail.

Yes it is possible, but I'm unsure whether it should be discussed in the open forum.
I'd like to know more about WHY you'd like to do this as well as how can you reasonably expect this NOT to be understood eventually by other users and thus end up being a mute point.

You're PM is being discussed with other Mods. We'll get back to you.
In the mean time, I'm closing the topic and will re-open it when we've decided on this.
