i have a bcm 450 that the hard drive died
can i just go pick a regular one or its some type of prprietary to nortel

You must have a pre-programmed drive from Avaya. If you have the image tool for the BCM450 then you can try to reimage the drive. I have seen 2 BCM450's where the HDD and the power supply had to be replaced.
