I have a DBS40 in one of our locations, model-VB-43030. I tried replacing a bad phone with a larger display phone (VB-44225G), the display is all black and I can not get it adjusted. Do the large Display phones only work on the DBS824 systems or am I just not doing anything right? I did check the telephone type in programming and it is set to 2 for 22 button. Any help is appreciated.

Your DBS 40 needs to be release 8.0 to support the (VB-44xxx) Big Screen series phones. You need the (VB-43225)Big Screen for ealier software.

Actually the phone is a VB-43225, my mistake. Is there any way to adjust the display or is there something else I need to program. I set the telephone type to 2, that is about it for now. The phone works fine other than the display being completely dark, I tried another phone just to see if it was a bad display but it did the same thing. What is the best way to see the version of software. I'm sure it's older software as it has been installed for quite a while. Thanks

Type 1 is for a SL set. Type 2 is for a 16 button set. Type 3 is for a 22 button set. Change your type then unplug the phone and plug it back in, that should do it. Let me know how it goes.
To check you software ver. (press ON/OFF CONF7777)this must be done at a display phone.

When the phone is not in use press # then volume up to lighten and volume down to darken contrast. It would be sad if thats all that was wrong. Hell we should have tried this first. Thanks, I will try that when I go down, I figured there had to be a way to adjust the display. I looked all over the manual and never found anything on it. Of course I can have something right in front of me and I won't see it sometimes. Thanks again guys Dug
