I am looking at interconnecting 2 1232's. The existing is a dash 1. The second will be a new dash 6. From what I understand they both need the same software release. Would this be a ROM chip upgrade? Also I thought I read somewhere someone had issues with an early release 1232 (dash 1 maybe?) and had to do a full CPC upgrade to interconnect. Has anyone heard of this?
Anyone have any warnings or pointers?
Thanks.

The version 1 can not be upgraded on firmware alone. The whole CPU has to be changed. Your best bet would be to send it to Atlanta and have them do it. The version 7 has been released and comes with a 193 CID card installed. no increase in cost. Put in 2 new version 6 or 7 cabinets and either take the old -1 in trade or let him sell it on his own. You can upload the -1 programming into the latest software version of the programming tool and then download it into the new cabinet. Don't forget the cost of the TD 192 inter-connect kit and make sure you put them on a good UPS although the -6 and up do have auto-sync.

Thanks MrG. I was afraid that -1 was going to be a problem. My supplier isn't showing -7 yet. And I called too late last night to get a price on the KX-TD192. The kit was listed but no price given. I will call them and see what their excuse is ![[Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]](https://www.sundance-communications.com/forum/smile.gif) Is there another wholesaler you would recommend? You brought up a good point that I needed to ask about... Reloading the database is VERY inportant to me. The old dos based program tool doesn't work on -6 and newer? If so, that maybe a problem because I'm not a dealer. What is auto sync?

I don't know who your using now but I like TeleDynamics in Austin TX. and Jenne Distributors in Avon, OH. Gray bar, Anixter and AllTel have them as well but there usally a little higher and that's IF they will even sell it to you with out being a dealer. Auto sync is a new feature built into version 6 and higher TD 1232s. On a dual cabinet system the cabinets have to be synchronized. On pre version 6 units this was done by powering both cabinets on at the same time with no activity at all, (incoming, outgoing or intercom) for 4 minutes. Quite often after a power failure the cabinets would not re-sync properly. Service calls during the day to re-Sync. were generally a p.i.t.a. as you have to disconnect your station Amp. connectors and the CO inputs.
BTW, there is a dos based programm for every version, even the -6. I prefer it over the windows tool.
