KXTA624-5 & KXTA1232-2 seperate single line exts used for credit card machines and computer dial-ups. Won't work. Fax as an ext does. Only had this problem in two SBC central office exchanges. These are the older WECO C.O.s. Same units/configurations in other SBC exchanges (NT DMS switches) works fine. The only Panasonic units I can get to pass dial-up/credit cards on the old C.O.s is the digitals (KXTD816/1232). Not many customers want to pay for the upscaled KSU and NO DSL or cable available. "Fast" data is done by dish units.

Anyone with any ideas?

connect the credit card machine directly to a CO and make sure it works.
Once it's working there you can put it on an extension port if you want.
It should be on it's own port and you will have to put a 9 in the dial string of the credit card machine. If you don't have the manual for the creditcard machine most companies offer tech support to help you set it up.
Put your buttset on that port and manually dial the # for the creditcard and make sure it's the right # and then try it through the machine while you monitor the call and see what happens. You may have some sort of TRS on that port.

Done that, been there. It's only on the older WECO exchanges. And only on the analog units. CCs and Dial-ups don't work --- won't pass data ---- dialing into the provider port is okay.

Maybe the creditcard machine provider can program (or tell you how to program) the baud rate down to 1200 or even 300 if necessary.
Is there a digital dialer alarm and if so does it work.

The alarms are ahead of the KSUs as is common around here. The one was not reprogrammable to a slower baud rate and the second one the supplier didn't know what I was talking about. The dial-ups would connect to the provider then dump when traffic was started. Works fine without the KSU. Thanx.
