I have inherited the responsibility for looking after a Panasonic KXTD 1232 system from a colleague and I have a number of queries. I know little about telephone systems as I'm an IT man by trade.

We have 2x 1232 boards plus a TVP100 voice processing system. On the boards with have 1x ISDN PRI box, 2x 4CO boxes and IIRC 2x 8EXT boxes between the 2.

From what I've picked up I believe we have 12x ISDN 30 channels and a block of 15 DDI numbers in the range xxx900 to xxx914. In terms of extensions we have 14x digital sockets c/w digital handsets and all of these are equipped with DDI's. We also have 19x analogue extentions that just have extension numbers.

What do I lose by having analogue extensions/handsets over digital handsets? Is it possible to uses features like call forwarding on the analogue sockets?

Can an analogue extension be assigned a direct dial number on this system? Can an XDP port be assigned a DDI?

Most of our extension numbers bear no relation to our DDI numbers which is confusing - eg. my extension number is 247 and my DDI is xxx911. I can sort of get my head around this becuase my extension was added later, but many of my colleagues have mismatched numbers and have done since the system was installed. I appreciate it may not be possible for them to be exact but if the last 2 digits matched up that would be fine. Is there any technical reason why the numbers could not be set up to match?

Finally, is it possible have a DDI ring a group of extensions? And can a single extension have multiple DDI's.

Any help would be much appreciated.

you asked

almost nothing
1. the display
2. the ability to take a line directly ( the keys)

you asked

yes
insted of pressing the fwd/dnd key you would type the feature access no: in directly IE 7105265# to send your calls to v/mail or change the 265 to another ext no: for a different ext.
you asked
Can an analogue extension be assigned a direct dial number on this system? Can an XDP port be assigned a DDI?

yes when working with a digi phone you would prog the first part of the ext..with the annalog phone you would prog the second part of the ext.. or dependent on the version of the system you would just point the ddi to the ext you want..

not so much technical as time ...when your company asked for the ddi range from the supplier the should have asked for the range the wanted you can renumber the extentions but it would take time as all exts would have to be renumbered also if it is a case that your ddi was the same as the feture access then you would have to change these also.(ie) in the above example i told you to type 710 5 265 so if your ddi was xxxx710 then this would case a problem

yes to both a ddi can ring any ext ,group ,or phantom no:

hope this help you out a bit
