Well, seems Peter finally was the one who gave me a solution, but it was a weird one.
I had the MESSAGE button set up as a DSS button to go straight to voicemail, and to be able to try his proposal I had to set it back up as the message waiting option and suddenly my MWL went on before I even tried it.
I guess having this button as ann DSS to voicemail somehow stops the MWL to work properly. So finally my quest is finished.

Thanks everyone for the help!! really appreciate the effort, and hope everyone else having the same problem find this helpful.

Now I have a new issue which might be easier to solve. My PT station is keeping the light on even though I have no more messages in my mailbox or the system and/or messages manager's mailboxes. Any ideas on this one?

That's just from using another extension to light.
Press intercom, press the lit mesage waiting button and it should call the extension that left the message.
Answer that ringing extension and the light should go out.

I know what you mean, but this feature was never used because the button has always been set up as a DSS button to the VPS system.
I have the KX-T7731 PTs so the MWL is a separate led from the MESSAGE button. ANd I think whenever you have a MWN of that kind you get an extension number and name displayed in the screen right?
So I'm pretty sure this is something else.

I noticed is not only my phone that is keeping the light on, but also two more extensions.
These are 101, 109, and 110
So if anybody knows why this is happening, please help
