Customer doesn't have money to invest currently in a Voicemail unit (VPS) and would like to temporarily use a standard answering machine hooked up on EXT. 108. However, I need to have calls from only CO's 1-4 route to EXT.108 if a call hasn't been answered in a certain amount of time. I tried doing this and it sort of worked, but as soon as call gets transfered to EXT108, a loud continuous tone comes on and both the caller hears it and the answering machine records it. It seems to be internally generated from the PBX, but I don't know why and it's very annoying! It's not a Fax or Modem either...

I figured it out since no one replied. So I'm posting the results in case anyone else needs to do this. I put CO's 1-4 on TrunkGroup 1 and assigned that to ICD 601 with Overflow routed to 108 after overflow delay of 20secs. Also it turned out that CO2 had a fire alarm panel connected to it at the demarc and the stupid panel would coincidentally answer with a loud tone at the same time the call would get transfered to 108.

prog no: 408 co day in
prog no: 409 co night in
set port 08 to enable on lines 1-4
prog no:411(day delay
prog no:412 (night delay
set both to 20s on port 08
